36th Infantry Division and Resistance Fighters Memorial

A hewn, white stone bearing a rectangular stone plaque that contains a commemoration message written in French in white and incised lettering. Depicted images above the message are the 36th Infantry Division insignia, crossed flags of America and France, and the Lorraine cross. The plaque honors the American soldiers of the 36th Infantry Division and the resistance fighters, who, from August 22 to 29, 1944, fought violently against the German forces retreating in the south of France on these summits, following the landing in Provence on August 15, 1944. The plaque was inaugurated on August 25, 2019.

A la mémoire des résistants et de la
36° Division d'infanterie américaine,
qui du 22 au 29 Août 1944 sur les collines
de Savasse, ont violemment combattu
les forces allemandes en retraite au prix
de nombreuses pertes et blessés.
Passant souviens toi.
English translation:
In memory of the Resistance fighters and the
36th American Infantry Division,
who from August 22 to 29, 1944 on the hills
of Savasse, have violently fought against
the retreating German forces at the cost of
many casualties and wounded.
