An open-book tablet engraved with a commemoration message that is written in French in black lettering. 1Lt Morford, a P-47 Thunderbolt pilot, was killed in aerial combat on August 14, 1944. His airplane crashed near Voise - 17 km southeast of Chartres. His name is also honored on a monument near the Picauville town church.
