A concrete memorial with a blue inscribed facing about 5 feet tall with a helmet and bayonet on top.
The memorial remembers the opening of the passage for the Battle of Leyte Landings in October 1944. The advance landings. Several days before the main attack, Task Group 784. (7th US Fleet) landed forces of the 21st Infantry Regiment “Gimlet”, 24th Infantry Division, and the 6th Ranger Battalion on the islands of Dinagat, Suluan, and Homonhon. The landings were successful and opened the way for the main landings on Leyte on October 20, 1944.

HENRY MUCCI AND CAPTAIN ROBERT GARRETT, WHO SACRIFICED TO LIBERATE OUR COUNTRY FORM THE JAPANESE IMPERIAL FORCES, LANDED ONE EARLY MORNING OF OCTOBER 17, 1944 ON THIS SECLUDED SHORE OF CAMPINTAC, WHICH THE AMERICANS CALLED BLACK BEACH 2, PANAMOAN, LORETO . . . . FOR THE LIBERATION OF THE PHILIPINES . . . .
