Asch Liberation Monument (3rd US Army)
Details:
On the west side of the street.
A large, rough-hewn stone monument, bearing two plaques, one above the other. The upper plaque is engraved with the American flag depiction and inscribed with a commemoration message that is written in Czech in raised lettering. Then, the lower contains the names of eight soldiers who were killed during the liberation. The town of Asch was liberated by the US Army from German occupation on April 20, 1945 by units of the US 3rd Army.
Units symbols on the memorial include the 2nd Cavalry Group; 97th Infantry Division and the 755th Filed Artillery Battalion.
