The museum and memorial remember the October 1944 Naval Battle of Surigao Straight. The Battle of Suriago Straight was part of the Great Naval Battle of Leyte Gulf.
The memorial includes informational signs and the museum includes artifacts remembering the Battle of Surigao Straights.
Battle of Surigao Strait: October 24-25, 1944, was part of the Naval Battle of Leyte Gulf- the largest naval battle of the war. The US Force in the battle Task Force 77.2 was commanded by Admiral Jesse Oldendorf and is considered the last great battleship naval battle.
