PFC Bucholz Memorial- 7th Infantry Division
Details:
On the west side of the airport terminal.
A concrete monument with the symbol of the 7th Infantry Division built into it and a brass inscribed plaque.
The memorial remembers the namesake of the Bucholz Army Airfield, Private First Class Fred Bucholz, who was killed during the 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division “Bayonet” landing and liberation of the Kwajalein Island in the Kwajalein Atoll on February 4, 1944 during the Eastern Mandate Campaign (Operation Flintlock) in World War 2.
Bucholz received the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions on that day.
