Details:
On the east side of the road.
A rough-hewn stone bearing a rectangular stone plaque that features the photo of 2Lt Wellek above a commemoration message. The plaque is inscribed in French and English in gold and incised lettering.
On August 4, 1944, 2Lt Wellek took off from airfield A-12 in Lignerolles, France, on a mission to Vire. He was flying in the no. 2 position of the Klondike Red section. At 4:00 PM, his plane was shot down by flak and crashed at La Boucherie - town of Mesnil-Clinchamps. 2Lt Wellek was killed in this crash.
