Private First Class Michael J. Moffatt served in Company A, 105th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division (New York National Guard). He was killed on October 18, 1918 during the 27th Infantry Division attack on the Hindenburg Line in the Somme.
Moffatt was born in Ireland and immigrated to New York in 1908 and enlisted in the Army in 1917. He was originally buried in the Somme-American Cemetery and returned to Ireland in 1921 to be buried in the family plot. A US Military gravestone was added in 2017 with the assistance of the local American Legion.
