Private First Class John Canty served in the Battalion C, 13th Engineers of the 7th Infantry Division. He was killed on August 26, 1951 in Korea during the Korean War.  

 

John Canty was born in Lixnaw, County Kerry, Ireland on September 6, 1926.  He immigrated to Chicago in the United States.  He is remembered on a monument to Irish Korean War dead in Lixnaw.

 

He is buried in an Isolated Burial (ISOB) in the Kiltomey Cemetery in Lixnaw, Ireland.
