Details:
On the north side of Green Lane near the junction.
A large black granite plaque mounted onto a low red brick wall that is bordered by two brick pillars. The plaque is inscribed in English in white lettering headed by the insignias of the 334th Bomber Squadron, the 95th Bomber Group, and the 8th Air Force. The printed image on the bottom of the plaque is a depiction of a B-17 aircraft. The plaque commemorates and lists the names of the 10 members of the crew who were all killed in the crash of their plane. On the right-hand side beside the monument is an information board that further details the story of the crash.
On 19 November 1943, at 8.30 A.M., #42-231123 crashed at Green Farm, Redlingfield. On the above date, this aircraft was taking off from the Horham Aerodrome on a mission, when it failed to gain sufficient flying speed and was banking to turn when it stalled, crashing about forty yards from the rear of the farmhouse.
