Private First Class (PFC) Ingebrigt Arnold Apold served with the 99th Infantry Battalion (Sep) (Norwegian) in WW2. He was KIA on September 27, 1944 in Belgium while the unit was attached to the 2nd Armored Division.
Ingebrigt A. Apold was born in Arna, Norway on October 10, 1905. In 1927 he immigrated to the US and lived in New York where he worked as a gardener. He enlisted in the US Army in 1942 (32625017) and as a Norwegian speaker was recruited to the 99th Inf BN. In 1949 he his body was sent to his hometown in Norway where he is buried.
A memorial in Geleen, Netherlands (2nd Armored Division) remembers Apold.
