Patton’s Meadow (Hage) Memorial
Details:
The informational panel is at the entrance to the park which is just off the main road.
The memorial is a city park meadow (Hage) with an information panel remembering the November 1945 visit of General George S. Patton who conducted a review of a military exercise in November 1945.
General George S. Patton had a long relationship with the country of Sweden that began when he competed in the Modern Pentathlon competition during the 1912 Olympics held in Stockholm, Sweden; he placed fifth in the event.
In November 1945, Patton was invited to Sweden and part of his visit was to observe a military exercise conducted by the Swedish Uppsala Regiment. Patton reviewed this exercise accompanied by Prince Gustaf Adolf. At the end of the exercise, Patton gave a review of the exercise to a gathering in the “Hage” or meadow which is remembered today as Patton’s Hage.
