Isolated BurialThe isolated burial of LT Paul Louis Druaux, Jr, who was missing in action while serving as a platoon leader in Company M, 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division on 29 August 1944.
From the 79th Infantry Division website:
An unusual burial site for an American lieutenant. 1st Lieutenant Paul Druaux died in combat at Arthies-en-Vexin on August 29, 1944, along with five of his comrades from the 315th US Regiment, from Nebelwerfer rocket fire. When the US cemetery at Saint-André-le-l'Eure was closed, his widow ensured he remained in France, as they were originally from Louisiana, and thus purchased a plot in the local cemetery. He along with the following soldiers were buried in this cemetery:
