A stone monument that commemorates members of the Belgian resistance and  that were executed on the road to Anzegem for the liberation of Waregem.

The American was Staff Sergeant John Mahoney of the 700th Bomber Squadron, 445th Bomber Group.  He was shot down on April 22, 2944 while serving on the B-24 (41-29306) "Marez-ee-Dotes while on a mission to Koblenz. He was aided by the local resistance and joined them and fought for the next several months until being killed here along with 6 Belgian resistance members.

A cenotaph remembers Mahoney next to this monument. where he was buried next to his fellow resistance members until he was repatriated.

A memorial to the B-24 is located at Site Spiere-Helkijn, Belgium.
