Museum
The Winter Line museum, opened in 2007, depicts military operations along the Winter (also known as the Gustav Line) and Bernard lines in 1943-44 in the hard fought Italian campaign. The museum is located in the town of Venafro, which during the war was an allied logistic hub to support military operations against the German defenses along the Winter and Bernard lines. The museum has a large collection of military artifacts, photographs and equipment depicting the great mountain battles that occurred in this area. German, New Zealand, Canadian; British, Polish US, and French Colonial forces among others fought in the vicinity of Venafro. Numerous displays and artifacts of US involvement in the fighting area, to include: the 3rd, 34th, 36th, and 45thInfantry Divisions; 504thParachute Infantry Regiment; Rangers; and, the First Special Services Force (FSSF). Winter Line Association conducts military research and guided tours to battlefields on the Bernard Line and Winter Lines near Venafro.
