B-17 'Stormy Weather' (42-39873) Memorial Plaque

On the town's war memorial.
A marble plaque with gold leaf inscription in French honors the air crew of the downed B-17 Stormy Weather. According to MACR 7824 le B-17 G serial 42-39873 "Stormy weather" of the 401st BG / 615th BS, took off from Deenethorpe (UK) on 1 August 44. The plane was hit by flak at 27,000 feet, then hit another plane on its way down. One crewmember was taken prisoner, the rest were killed.
