Details:

This LVT4 "Alligator" is located in the room called "Les Alliés Seconde Guerre mondiale" (The Allies during the Second World War) in the back of the museum.  Combat Vehicle The origin of the LVT (Landing Vehicle Tracked) is a design for an amphibious civilian rescue vehicle that could be used in swamps and marshes. The "Alligator" featured several machine guns (these were frequently added and shielded by the crew). Due to its lack of armor, the LVT4 was used as a transportation vehicle between cargo ships/hubs and the front lines. In addition to the three person crew, the LVT4 could transport 24 soldiers.  It was first deployed at the battle for Guadalcanal and then proved useful for the "island hopping" strategy employed by the United States in the Pacific.
