A tall grey granite obelisk commemorating by name all of the First Infantry Division soldiers killed while fighting in the area. This memorial ,overlooking the Easy Red sector of “Bloody Omaha” beach commemorates the Big Red One’s 627 dead between 6 June and 24 July, 1944.
It is one of five similar World War 2 memorials placed across Europe by the 1st Infantry Division.
