1st Marine Division Monument
Details:
Located on the far side of the grass field. Monument This concrete stele with two large bronze plaques commemorates the men of the 1st Marine Division for their actions while taking the island of Peleliu. The division fought hard for two moths before the Island was captured, taking immensely heavy casualties in the process. The smaller of the two plaques recognizes eight men who were awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions on Peleliu.
