A white stone engraved with commemorations supporting a black representation of a parachute bearing a black plaque, all honoring Allied servicemen who died in support of Operation Anvil Dragoon.

Ce choix geographique fit de la Motte le 1e village libere de Provence
Ce memorial a ete inaugure le 15 Aout 1988 par le Colonel Rene Boffy participant a cette operation et Mc Yves Rose maire de la commune de la Motte
On August 15th, 1944
During the very first hours, the plain of La Motte was the center of a great airborne operation "Dragoon" 9000 men parachuted or landed in gliders along with 221 jeeps and 213 pieces of artillery
The geographic choice resulted in making La Motte the first liberated village in Provence
This memorial was realized in homage to the airborne units that participated in this operation under the command of General Frederik
The memorial was inaugurated on August 15th 1988 by Colonel Rene Boffy who took part in the operation and Mr Yves Rose mayor of La Motte.
