On the west roadside of the D23.
Marker
A grey vertical stone slab with flanking wings and golden lettering commemorating the US aviators that crashed there during WWII. B-17 'The Mugger' (42-5792) of the 358th Bomber Squadron, 303rd Bomb Group crashed here after a bombing mission near Le Mans. The French who assisted the surviving crew members are also remembered.
