116th Regimental Combat Team Statue and Plaque
Details:
On the Vierville Draw, the monument is located near the beach where the D517 curves to run along the coast. It is just west of the large German bunker and just across the street from Hotel du Casino. Statue The green, metallic statue commemorates the 29th Infantry Division, especially the 116th Infantry Regimental Combat Team who stormed Omaha Beach on D-Day in the beginning of the liberation of Europe. The statue depicts a soldier carrying his rifle and another soldier while running on the beach.

Ever Forward
In commemoration of the determined effort by the soldiers of the 29th Division's 116th Infantry Regimental Combat Team who landed the morning of June 6, 1944 on this section of Omaha Beach, known as Exit D-1, to open the Vierville Draw behind you to begin the liberation of Europe.
En memorie de la determination des soldats du Groupement Tactique du 116eme Regiment d'Infanterie de la 29th Division ayant debarque le matin du 6 juin 1944 sur ce secteur d'Omaha Beach, connu comme la Sortie D-1 qui ouvra le chemin vers Vierville pour entamer la liberation de l'Europe.
