On the NE roadside of the D90 at its intersection with the D89.

A pink stone monument bearing a black plaque with gold lettering commemorating the B-17 'Shady Lady' (42-97385) of the 398th Bomber Group that crashed in the area during WWII and three of the crew who were shot while attempting to escape.

Three of the crew were shot in an escape attempt; four became POWs; and two evaded capture with the assistance of local Resistance.
