Bonifacio Marine Cemetery

A cemetery in Bonifacio that contains those lost in the sea and surrounding area to include a plaque to a B-25 that crashed on nearby Mount Cagna in 1944; crew and passengers were recovered in 1989 and identified in 2005.

West of the Avenue de la Carotola. Located at the western most edge of the city. Comprised of square stone structures, some have whitewashed walls. Situated on the Bosco plateau, a few steps from the Saint François Church facing the sea, the marine cemetery of Bonifacio, otherwise known as Campu Santu locally, has the reputation of being one of the most beautiful graveyards in the Mediterranean.
