Description:

The site includes two memorials; one remembering the French Foreign Legionnaires who fell fighting near this location in 1915 along with an American; and, the Isolated burial of the American French Foreign Legion soldier. The parents of the American built the memorial to remember their son and the fallen Legionaries.

The site is located in the French National Cemetery of the Legion (Cimetière National de la Légion) also know as the American Monument or Farnsworth Monument (Monument Américain" or Monument Henri Farnsworth). The cemetery is an Ossuary located near the town of Souain-Perthes-lès-Hurlus. Souain-Perthes-lès-Hurlus is a commune in the Marne department in north-eastern France. The site is located about 2 kilometers northeast of the town; several military cemeteries are located in the area. The site is adjacent to a French military base.
