Lamp, who was 29 years old, was born in Lafayette, where his family has been prominent for, many years. The Lamps formerly conducted the Lafayette Hotel. He was drafted in September 1917, and sent to Camp Lewis, whence he left for France in December with the 18th Infantry. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 21, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
