When William W. Voigt was born on September 4, 1892, in Portage, Wisconsin, his father, Albert, was 26 and his mother, Isabel, was 25. He had one brother and one sister. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 19, 1918 at the age of 25 and is now buried in Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage, Columbia County, Wisconsin, USA. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as PVT W W VOIGHT.
