John Milton Edwards, Jr. was born on July 4, 1897. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company G, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was with the first troops to cross the Atlantic with Pershing. He landed in France with the vanguard of Americans on June 26, 1917, and had seen over a year of actual service on the battlefront. He was Killed in Action on July 18, 1918 at the age of 21 and is now buried in Forest Park East Cemetery, Shreveport, Caddo Parish, Louisiana, USA.
