Howard J. Dailey was born on June 10, 1894. He was the son of Albinas and Amanda Bedwell Dailey of Scott County, Indiana. He enlisted in the Army in 1916 in Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company M, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action in Soissons, France on July 20 ,1918 but, was declared Missing in Action on July 24, 1918. He is memorialized in the Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France.
