When Kenneth R Toothman was born on November 1, 1898, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, his father, Omar, was 24 and his mother, Dovie, was 14. He had two brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company K, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on May 10, 1918 and is now buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Fairmont, Marion County, West Virginia, USA. His name is inscribed on the Cantigny monument as PVT K TOOTHAN in the Company I of his unit.
