When Pfc Roy Oliver Simpson was born on January 16, 1925, his father, John, was 46 and his mother, Fannie, was 35. He had four brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 143rd Infantry Regiment, 36th Infantry Division. He entered service in Ohio. He died on August 25, 1944 during the invasion of southern France. He is now buried at Collinsville Cemetery, Collinsville, Butler County, Ohio, USA.
