Enlisted in the Army 23 Jul 1943.

Fernand served as a Private, 141st Infantry, 36th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Kennebec County, Maine prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on July 23, 1943 in Portland, Maine. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in laundering and also as Single, without dependents.

Fernand was "Killed In Action" in Southern France during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart."
