John Exodus Allen was born on December 9, 1906 in Louisiana, USA. Allen married Jewel E. Wynn on SepTember 13, 1926. They had three children, Glenn Eldridge Allen , Lynn Allen and Jackson ( Jackie ) Dee Allen. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Division. He entered service in Louisiana on November 12, 1942. John was killed in the invasion of southern France on August 25, 1944. John's body was sent back to Louisiana in 1948. Service was held in the Shiloh Baptist Church and military burial in the Shiloh Cemetery. The flag and purple heart was given to his father Jackson Allen.
