Joseph P. Bova was a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Forces from New York. He served with the 850th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group during World War II. Navigator of the B-24 Liberator serial number 42-51124 5Z which took off at 2306 on 18 June 44 from Harrington, UK, on an ammunition drop to the French Resistance. The plane crashed due to unknown circumstances at 0030. 2LT Bova died on June 19, 1944. He was initially buried in the temporary American Cemetery of Villeneuve-sur-Auvers, near Paris. Joseph P. Bova is currently buried in the Brittany American Cemetery in Saint-James, France.
