Joseph Romanus Abele was born on August 16, 1912. He had completed college and was a school teacher when he enlisted for WWII battle in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a First Lieutenant in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was killed on April 19, 1945 and is now buried in Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands.
