Born 16 FEb 1923 in Walterboro, SC to Christopher Gadsden Padgett (1889-1953) and May Louise Price Padgett (1895-1968). Member of the Citadel class of 1944, which was drafted in its entirety in the spring of 1944. Attended OCS at Fort Benning, Georgia and was commissioned on 11 July 1944. Married Ann Ficken Seignious (1925-1975) the next day and had a son (Richard Paul) on 16 May 1945. Platoon leader with G Company, 2nd Battalion, 303rd Infantry Regiment, 97th Division. Killed in the Czech Republic on 30 April 1945.
