Joseph Flory was an Airman in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was born on 24 February 1913 in France. His parents immigrated to Oakland, CA from France in the 1930’s. Sergeant Flory, was killed on October 14, 1943 while serving as the left waist gunner of the B-17 42-30726, which took off from Alconbury 16 in teh UK on a bombing mission to Schweinfurt, Germany where it was attacked by enemy aircraft over the target and exploded and crashed near Kembach, Germany. He is buried per his father Emile's request in Dornach, France (near Mulhouse).Joseph Flory’s father was Emile Flory (who passed away on 3 July 54 in Oakland) and his mother was Albertine (Hüg) Flory (who predeceased him). Emile and Albertine were married in France and immigrated to the US in the 30’s. They had four children: Marie, Alice, Joseph, and Fillippi. MACR 846.
