Flying P-47D he took off from Salon-en-Provence airfield France. Flight of four aircraft strafed a train near Vesoul, 33 miles from Belfort. Plane hit by flak at 16,000 ft. Crashed two miles SE of Belfort and exploded on impact at about 1151 hrs.
