Born 10 October 1914 in Tama, Iowa. As a youth, his mother passed away from cancer. Graduated from Central University and then married Dorothy Bishop on 24 June 42. Enlisted in the Army, trained in Camp Wolters, Texas, came across Ireland and England to Utah Beach. Severely wounded on 16 Nov 44 and died two days later from his wounds. A square in Fremonville, France (where he was killed) bears his name.
