Hodges, pilot of the P-47 Thunderbolt 42-26446, took off from station 357 in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, UK at 0520 on an escort mission to B-24 bombers attacking the V-1 sites in Northern France. He was shot down by a Me-109 at 0715. He also has a cenotaph located in Hillcrest Cemetery, Reynolds, Taylor County, Georgia, USA.
