2nd Lt Robert Lawrence Costello, co-pilot of the B-17 42-31325, took off from station 142 in Deopham Green, Norfolk, UK on a bombing mission over Frankfurt. Shortly after bombs away, the plane was hit by flak and came under attack from German Fw-190 fighters. He bailed out successfully and returned to the UK on the MGB 503 as part of Op Bonaparte 4 on March 19-20th 1944. His full E&E report #490 can be found at http://media.nara.gov/nw/305270/EE-490.pdf.
