Comments:

2nd Lt Abraham W. Rosenthal, bombardier of the B-17 42-31325, took off from station 142 in Deopham Green, Norfolk, UK on a bombing mission over Frankfurt. Shortly after bombs away, the plane was hit by flak and came under attack from German Fw-190 fighters. Rosenthal’s last words were “I’ll be back” before he made his way aft, helping with the wounded and manning the bomber’s tail gun. A strafing run killed him.
