1st Lt John D. English, navigator of the B-17 42-97137 “Silver Queen”, took off from station 130 in Glatton, Cambridgeshire, UK on a bombing mission over the V1 site of Gorenflos. The plane was hit by flak between the belly turret and radio station. It crashed at 1850, killing all but two crew members.
