2nd Lt Bradley B. Clark, pilot of the P-47 Thunderbolt 42-28879, took off from Y-1 airfield in Tantonville, France on a ground-attack mission over Germany. The mission was hard, and Clark took a number of hits to his aircraft due to aerial combat. On his way back the plane gave out and he crashed about a mile from his base. He was the first 371st Fighter Group pilot to die out of a mainland-based airfield.

Bradley Clark Place was dedicated in the village of Omelmont by the Mayor and Cindy Clark - daughter of Dick Clark in September 2013 for his honor.
