Perry A. Ovenshire was a member of the Watkins Glen Fire Department and St. John's Episcopal Church, Canandaigua. Entering service on April 3, 1944, Pfc. Ovenshire trained at Camp Wheeler, Ga., and left for overseas in September, 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on March 25, 1945 and is now buried in South Farmington Cemetery, Farmington, Ontario County, New York, USA. His wife died suddenly with a heart attack the year after he was killed.
