When Linton Lionell Lowell was born on April 22, 1922, in Portland, Maine, his father, Wesley, was 21 and his mother, Mary, was 20. He had one brother and three sisters. He enlisted in the Army on December 15, 1942 in Portland, Maine. He was noted as being employed in the manufacture of paper goods and also as Single, without dependents. Linton served as a Private First Class, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Cumberland County, Maine prior to the war.
