Grady W. Kuykendall was born on April 27, 1920, in Texas, the son of Vickie and Mont. He had three brothers. He enlisted in the Army on February 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician Fourth Grade in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on May 2, 1945 and is now buried in Ashland Cemetery, Gilmer, Upshur County, Texas, USA.
