When George Wallace Klaverenga was born on November 11, 1917, in Lafayette, Indiana, his father, George, was 27 and his mother, Augusta, was 35. He married Helen Burdenna Rodenbarger Kalverenga Wallace on January 2, 1943, in his hometown. They had two children during their marriage. He attended Montmorenci school and at the time of his enlistment in September, 1941, was employed by Lawrence Thise as a carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant in the 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on April 18, 1945 and is now buried in Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands.
