When Lawrence Winfield Stricklin was born on April 21, 1922, in Cullman, Alabama, his father, Elmer, was 37 and his mother, Annie, was 33. He had four brothers and four sisters. He enlisted in the Army on November 9, 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a First Lieutenant in the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died on April 18, 1945 and is now buried in Addington Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cold Springs, Cullman County, Alabama, USA.
