Charles Lando Beams was born on September 13, 1927, in Samantha, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He was the son of Raymous Claudus Beams and Mamie Broughton Beams. He was married to Reba Jo Beams. He served in the 999th Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division, as a Corporal and Field Wireman during the Korean War.

Cpl Beams was Killed in Action on June 21, 1952, in North Korea. He was buried in the Arbor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Samantha, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, USA.
